Oversharing online is always a good idea: 50 questions to get to know me better!

Hello lovely people!

That introductory few words has become more and more fitting in the last few days, as I’ve started to throw myself into the blogging community a bit more. I won’t lie, up until this point I’ve been almost entirely clueless as to how to get my blog out there to more readers. Shoutout to Katie for making me acquainted! She was my neighbour on a summer school at Durham two years ago (it will never stop feeling odd saying that as someone who now studies there), who now runs a fabulous blog over at Nerds, Numbers and Nonsensical Natterings.

Speaking of her and Harry’s wonderful blog, I’m shamelessly going to steal a tag they did a while back. I thought it would be fitting for those who don’t actually know me IRL to get to know IRL me, since up until this point I’m pretty sure my readers were exclusively my friends. So, here goes (I can’t believe I’ve already run out of ideas and I’m doing a tag, but this is where we’re at so shush).

1: What are you wearing?

Pyjama bottoms and a Topman jumper I bought in a charity shop for about £2. Don’t ever let anyone tell you blogging isn’t glamorous.

2: Ever been in love?

I won’t deny that yes, I have been in love, but that period of my life is now over. It’s not always forever kids.

3: Ever had a terrible breakup?

Well I’m not in love anymore so I guess that answers your question. (Dramatics aside, in hindsight it was actually pretty okay considering).

4: How tall are you?

About 5″7, so fairly average (aka a description of me in all aspects of life).

5: How much do you weigh?

I couldn’t tell you, I don’t actually own a set of scales! A healthy amount put it that way.

6: Any tattoos?

This is my favourite topic. I currently have three tattoos; a compass on my right ankle, a lotus flower and some swirly bits (I never know how to describe this tattoo) on my right wrist and a fresh All Time Low quote on my left forearm (because I’m complete trash). I’m working towards getting some thigh pieces designed too, but trying desperately to stop myself because at this rate I’m going to run out of skin.

7: Any piercings?

Both lobes, second lobe in my left ear (I shit you not because I was too skint to get both done at the time), and my tragus. I’m a bit bored of piercings now, guess I prefer covering my body in pretty pictures.

8: OTP?

I’m not 14 anymore so I should’ve grown out of shipping right? But, for the record, Vauseman from OITNB is a recent fave considering the new season is out.

9: Favorite show?

At the moment, Riverdale (absolute trash I am a mess). Of all time, The IT Crowd or Peep Show probably.

10: Favorite bands?

How long do you have? I can probably narrow it down to five; Alter Bridge, Enter Shikari, Halestorm, Twin Atlantic, Courteeners (currently, it changes a lot).

11: Something you miss?

My uni pals, my uni house, Durham, speaking French and Spanish everyday, awful Durham nights out, the buskers that sing completely inappropriate punk music in the middle of the day in town, cute cafes, going to Newcastle, college bar prices, my uni pals, need I go on? Someone get me back to Durham.

12: Favorite song?

I listen to far too much music to ever commit to a favourite song of all time. Currently, it’s Do Not Disturb by Halestorm (their new album is the definition of powerful female sexuality I swear).

13: How old are you?

19 (but not forever).

14: Zodiac sign?

Pisces? I think?

15: Quality you look for in a partner?

Honestly at this point just be nice to me pls (but there’s a running joke that I only date musicians so I guess that helps).

16: Favorite Quote?

“Take a breath and let the rest come easy”, from All Time Low’s song Dear Maria Count Me In. It’s now inked on my arm forever so I best not get sick of it. Also “N’attends rien, espere tout” is another favourite (“don’t wait for anything, hope for everything” is a rough translation. Did I mention I speak French?).

17: Favorite actor?

I don’t really care much for specific actors, but I really fancy Natasha Lyonne if that’s at all relevant.

18: Favorite color?

Blue. Shame it refuses to stick to my hair.

19: Loud music or soft?

So loud that I’m almost certain I’m developing hearing loss.

20. Where do you go when you’re sad?

My uni family. Shoutout to Ffion and Callum especially for spending too much time with me in tears or on depression walks. If they’re not home though, I try to go for a run.

21: How long does it take you to shower?

10 minutes max. Showers are boring and water costs money.

22: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

I’ve perfected the art of the 5 minute wake up. It’s the coffee and watching the news that makes it all take longer.

23: Ever been in a physical fight?

With multiple walls and the floor on most days, I’m extremely clumsy.

24: Turn on?

Depends how drunk I am.

25: Turn off?

Depends how drunk I am.

26: The reason I joined Blogging?

Too much time and not enough hobbies.

27: Fears?

Vomit, not being able to get out of a place/situation, being home alone at night, failure, and spontaneity. Just a short list, mostly manageable, definitely not in tears from them regularly.

28: Last thing that made you cry?

Leaving my uni friend Ffion at Stafford train station the other week. It was the last uni friend I had to say goodbye to until October, and that’s a weird concept for me.

29: Last time you said you loved someone?

Sometime whilst I was down South I probably said my friends weren’t that bad. I’m not particularly soppy.

30: Meaning behind your Blog Name?

It was my Tumblr name, and just stuck I guess.

31: Last book you read?

I finished The Colour of Bee Larkham’s Murder by Sarah J Harris earlier today. What an amazing look at autism, weaved into a murder mystery plot.

32: The book you’re currently reading?

Landline by Rainbow Rowell, and loving it.

33: Last show you watched?

Orange Is The New Black. I’m trying not to binge watch the new season but it’s not going very well as per usual.

34: Last person you talked to?

My brother, at dinner a few hours ago.

35: The relationship between you and the person you last texted?

My friend Beth. We met on my final year of French exchange this year, and despite the two year age gap I’m convinced we’re actually the same person at times.

36: Favorite food?

Sweet potato fries I love you ❤

37: Place you want to visit?

I have this weird thing about Peru at the moment, and I have no idea where it’s come from. Other than that, the French part of Canada is a dream of mine.

 38: Last place you were?

Aldi, because I really love adulthood.

39: Do you have a crush?

What is this, school? (yes)

40: Last time you kissed someone?

On my last night in Durham at the end of first year.

41: Last time you were insulted?

A customer told me I should crack a smile today. It’s day 7 out of 7 on shifts starting as early as 5:30am, I will smile if and when I want to.

42: Favorite flavor of sweet?

Honestly don’t remember the last time I ate sweets. Toffee I guess.

43: What instruments do you play?

Now, as someone whose life is centred around music you’d think I at least have a little musical talent right? Wrong. I used to play the piano in secondary school, and I’m still frustrated that my nerdy little self gave it up in favour of focusing on GCSEs. My ex also tried to teach me guitar, but unsurprisingly he wanted his guitar back when we split up, and I’ve just never gotten back into it.

44: Favorite piece of jewelry?

My Dad gave me a silver necklace with a heart on for Christmas that I never take off.

45: Last sport you played?

Netball. I played for all of a month in first term when I realised that my main technique of defence was to hit the ball out, which isn’t at all how you play netball. Sports and me are a bad mix.

46: Last song you sang?

Cough Cough by Everything Everything. I saw them at Truck Festival and was mostly confused throughout their entire set, but their weirdness has really grown on me in the last week.

47: Favorite chat up line?

I wish I could think of a witty joke to put here but they’re all way too self-deprecating.

48: Have you ever used it?
That would make zero sense.

49: Last time you hung out with anyone?

I went hiking with my best friend today. Currently can’t walk from the pain of 10 miles across about four or five mountain peaks, but I think it was worth it.

50: Who should answer these questions next?

Someone who found my blog through Twitter.

Is that enough oversharing for one day? I think so.

-Megan, listening to “This is Everything Everything” and dreaming about being back in Truck Festival crowds
